Illus. with wood engravings. Pictorial pink boards. Facsimile Edition. NY: Landmark Press, 1934.
Originally published in 1861 (by then in its thirtieth edition), this book advises against the evils of alcohol, with a plea to parents, and chapters on wine, distilling, the wholesale and retail trade, and the effects of alcohol. However, the book contains instructions for how to make each liquor, suggesting perhaps it was more of a manual disguised as a prohibition tract. Near fine.
