116 pp. Profusely illus. with wood engravings of images of hand-operated cider and wine presses. Pictorial green & red wrappers. Cherbourg: Simon Frères, 1914-15.
Founded in 1856, the company moved to Cherbourg in 1906 (where it still exists today), where thousands of apple crushers, presses and continuous hydraulic presses were made for wine and cider, as well as grape and pear crushers. Once the first dairy cooperatives came into being in 1890, the Company became also interested in industrial butter manufacturing, creating industrial churns, butter machines, and continuous moulds to equip this new industry - that is their main business today. Very good and bright, with hundreds of beautiful images of presses.
