This culinary seasoning set of sea salt and oregano has strong roots in Greek tradition. Nicknamed “Afrina” by locals, the natural fleur de sel is harvested each August at salt ponds in the Messolonghi Lagoon. Its moisture-rich texture ensures a balance of delicate saltiness (it’s less harsh compared to regular table salt) and a subtle bitterness. This Greek oregano—hand-picked in the hills of Serres, Macedonia—is regarded as one of the world’s best spices, thanks to its slow, natural drying. The result is a robust and herbaceous aroma and pleasant bitter-pungent taste.
We also love the handmade ceramic bowls they come in. Inspired by ancient Iron Age pots used for serving seasonings in households and social gathering, the vessels are functional and stunning. They’re designed with an opaque material to protect the salt and oregano from sunlight—if you store your seasonings in clear glassware, a photo-oxidation process will occur, thus damaging their quality, aroma and taste. Plus, this set is a great gift for hosts. When finished, simply refill the bowls with your favorite spices.
